STS provides a common XML format that standards developers, publishers, and distributors can use to publish and exchange full-text content and metadata of standards. It is expected that this "standard for standards" will be published in the fall as an XML document marked up in the STS standard after comments on the draft version are addressed and it is approved by NISO Voting Members and by ANSI, the American National Standards Institute. "Before STS, there were several DTDs used for tagging standard-type information. Worlds Most Powerful Emulator of Radio-Signal Traffic Opens for Business

New electronic simulation forum for wireless communication will host much of DARPA’s Spectrum Collaboration Challenge Today is the grand opening of the Colosseum. We are not referring here to the storied concrete Colosseum in Rome, which was completed in 80 A.D. and remains famous for its ancient gladiatorial spectacles. We are talking here about DARPA’s Colosseum, a next-generation electronic emulator of the invisible electromagnetic world. Though it resides in a mere 30-foot by 20-foot server room on the campus of the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) in Laurel, MD, the Colosseum is capable of creating a much larger, and critically important wireless world. If all goes as planned during the Agency’s three-year Spectrum Collaboration Challenge (SC2), competitors vying for $3.75 million in prize money will use the Colosseum—which today became fully accessible to them for the first time—as a world-unique testbed to create radically new paradigms for using and ma

Turkcell and Huawei Commercial Verification of GU@5MHz at Ankara TechCity2.0 kickoff

[Ankara, Turkey, April 21, 2017] Turkcell and Huawei completed verification of the GU@5MHz solution on commercial networks in Aksaray, Turkey. Testing showed that this innovative solution enables dynamic spectrum sharing between GSM and UMTS, boosting spectrum efficiency by 20%. This successful verification marks the beginning of CloudAIR-air interface resource cloudification in Turkcell, opening up the road to 5G. As the leading mobile operator of Turkey, Turkcell’s MBB penetration rate grew by 10% in 2016 with an average monthly dataflow of usage (DoU) up to 2.8GB. Building a ubiquitous MBB network on the 900MHz frequency band is important for Turkcell to enhance deep coverage and ease the capacity pressure coming from growing MBB demands. However, there is still considerable GSM traffic in some areas, which prevents spectrum refarming all over the country. Now, with Huawei’s GU@5MHz solution, spectrum resources can be dynamically shared between RATs. Turkcell can deploy ubiquitous
